What's your favorite The Walking Company Shoes?

i came across this list of favorite walking company shoes in facebook. Although all of the replies are over a year ago, I am hoping to find another discussion with a more recent answer. Hmmmm. I wonder if the same shoes are still the most favored. The Ecco shoes seems to have topped the list!

  • Ill have to say Ecco does beat out the rest. The Ecco Berlin is nice and I wore them until the soles fell off, but I really do like the new Seattles. They look nicer and are just as comfy.
My MBTs are sure amazing though. They are a close second!!!

Finding a technical running and walking shoe store can be a challenge, but one well worth spending the time to achieve. Once you have found the best pair of shoes for you with the aid of the staff at such a store, your future choices will be easier. You will be able to order the same style live or online, or ask for a similar style if they change.
How to Find Stores
  • Yellow page listings that appear to cater to serious runners and walkers.
  • Pick up the local running magazine and see which stores advertise in it.
  • Call the store and try to find out their level of knowledge by asking if they have any good straight last shoes or good shoes for overpronators. Their response will be a clue as to their level of expertise.

The Walking Company Shoes Review

Give me a Review is an online review platform which provides tabulated and detailed reviews on various industries. I just love their tagline: Are you an informed buyer? I recommend this site if you want to check on certain products or stores because they provide articles which reflects a more professional evaluation. I stumbled on one of their reviews regarding the Walking Company Store. Check it out:

The mission of www.walkingcompany.com is to provide shoes for everyone so they can walk in comfort in all areas of their lives. After years of suffering and delayed damage to their feet, many women today think twice about sacrificing comfort for style.
It used to be that comfortable shoes were what your 60-year old aunt wore, but that is no longer the case. The Walking Company has shoes that are comfortable and stylish. In fact most people won’t realize you bought the shoes more for their comfort than their look.

Overall Selection :

3 out of 4

The Walking Company has the largest selection of MBT shoes– known as the anti-shoe – online. The MBT not only looks good, it tones your legs, glutes and even your abs, while you walk. What more could you ask for in a shoe? I mean really!
The MBT is the top of the line when it comes to comfort with its patented “Massai Barefoot Technology” sole. If all of the technology and therapeutic benefits of this shoe don’t convince you of its merit, read the amazing testimonials of people who have bought MBT shoes and eliminated back pain, knee aches and foot problems.

The Walking Company’s sister site, www.twcperformance.com specializes in a full line of performance wear. Besides finding a great selection here, this site has information on the benefits of walking, as well as guides on how to find a chiropractor and how to find a podiatrist.
Other top brands include Ecco, Dansko, Mephisto, Ugz, and Pikolinos. This site features shoe manufacturers who have evolved designs, sensibility and comfort as their highest priority.

Ease of Use : 3.5 out of 4

There are retail locations of the Walking Company if you prefer going to one of their stores. But online you will find a wide range of search features right at your fingertips. Select from men’s and women’s shoes by style, size, brand, by comfort, arch type, and heel height. You can even find shoes that will accommodate your heel spurs, bunions and plantar fascitis.

Other Features : out of 4

Free UPS ground shipping with $100 purchase. Delivery is within 2-6 business days. Gift wrapping is available for just $5 more.

Guarantee & Return Policy :  3.5 out of 4

Your satisfaction is guaranteed 100 percent within 30 days or you can get a refund or exchange by mail or through any retail location.

Customer Service :  3.5 out of 4

Customer service is available on their toll free number Monday through Friday 8am to 11 pm EST.

Security & Reliability :  out of 4

The Walking Company takes the security of their site very seriously. They have a first layer Secure Socket Layer (SSL), second layer Firewall and as an extra precaution, they authorize all credit card transactions through the same private channel as they use for traditional orders.

Summary :
The first order of business here is the company’s purpose: We search the world so you can walk in comfort. That alone makes this a great site. But the Walking Company gives back to the community by supporting a number of animal and children’s charities. Some of the recipients include Guide Dogs of America and The Make a Wish Foundation.

isn't it great/ aside from the services offered by the Walking Company, they actually support animal and children charity! Security and reliability of the store got a perfect 4! and that is also a good review. although the rest of the criteria were not perfect, the Walking Company store did not fail in any of these.

The Walking Company Store Review in Chicago

I came across these reviews from Chicago on the Walking Company Shoes. It seems like the store has not been getting a perfect 5-star. But sure enough the shes from this Walking Company Store store can boast comfort and durability. These reviews are from yelp

Really? No one has reviewed The Walking Company?

Probably because people think this store is filled with ugly, old people shoes. And yes, I would say at least 80% of the shoes here are ugly.

I, however, managed to find some that looked okay but felt really comfy (I have high arches). These Mephisto sandals were $150 so I had to think about it before I purchased them. I went home and read reviews on http://Zappos.com. One woman had her Mephisto sandals for 7 years! I justified the purchase of these sandals by considering it an investment in taking care of my body. I'm sick of buying 5 pairs of those cheapo sandals that I end up throwing away at the end of summer anyway. And plus they hurt my feet!

Salespeople were alright. I may return in the future to buy running shoes.

This store is located on the 7th floor of Water Tower Place. Take the elevator so you don't have to deal with tourists trying to go down the UP escalator and vice versa.

I am torn on this one because after a week of getting my groove back (read working 60 hours + on my feet) I took the plunge and decided on investing in some much needed appropriate shoes.  I am very hard on shoes and also have square feet so I hate shoe shopping pretty much more than anything else in the world.  That being said, it had to be done and I had found a pair of Dansko's that were actually cute and wearable with my current wardrobe.

However, grabbing the two styles I found suitable meant nothing to the young lad (who shall remain nameless) and he proceeded to bring me every pair of shoes I would mock on passerssby.  Clogs?  Wedges?  Earth shoes?  My feet might be square but that's where it ends.  On top of that, after working ten hours, I had to wait as he yanked insole after insole out of the shoes and put The Walking Company insole into them.  and he made me "try" them.  Yes, they are comfy, but to add another $79 for an insole to a shoe that is already more than a car payment?  I don't think so.  And especially when I didn't ask you to....

So after being jacked around with ugly clodhopper after clodhopper after spinster gear, I asked if I could just buy my shoes that I came in for which happened to be on sale.  Yay?  Not so fast....did I have the proper shoe care products to properly care for my new investment, I mean shoes?  Why that stuff I have from a friend in Sweden (who works for Dansko btw) couldn't possibly be as good as the stuff they have hiding under the chair ready to ambush you with.  No? Cuz Dansko recommends it in Scandinavia.  Hello.

To end this trilogy, old boy rings me up for essentially $50 more than the shoes were suppose to cost.  I question him and he assures me that I am already getting $20+ off the price and that is a STEAL.  So I go home to find them on line for the price I THOUGHT they were in the store.  The next day I return my beloved shoes and casually ask the manager how much those bad boys were going for...um yeah, $50 less then I paid 12 hours prior.  Yep.  And there were no recent markdowns.

Why three stars?  Because they have shoes that fit my feet, shoes that are built for heavy duty walking/standing and the manager was awesome about the return and held a few pairs for me until Friday when I calmed down after the first fiasco.  And he gave me a shoe horn.

Yes, ugly, old people shoes just about sums it up. Not saying old people are ugly, I mean the shoes in the Walking Company. I come here for work shoes because they give us Northwesterners a slight discount. It barely covers the taxes now a days, but I'll take what I can get. They have a huge selection of Dansko shoes which are amazing on your feet and last a loooong time. My first pair lasted me about 2 years. I found that outstanding, considering I wear almost daily.
The two times I have been in here, the salesperson has been very helpful in getting my correct shoe size, helping me try the shoes on, and really trying to get me into a pair of shoes that fit correctly and feel great. Yes, for shoes over $100 I expect that, but that type of service is rarely found now days.

Actually flew in all the way from Canada to buy a pair of shoes for my girlfriend. Not really, but the service was great and so was the price.
